Recently Ford produced a commercial that hit into the heart of what many Americans feel about the auto bailout.
Watch.
It’s easy to understand why this commercial hit such a chord with the American people.
Starting from George W Bush’s presidency and into the current Obama Administration, Americanshavebeenagainst the bail out of the auto industry. GM employees, currently, 209,000. If the credo exalted by many union-backed politicians said that a “Vote against the auto bails is un-American.”
Then I humbly submit that these politicians wouldn’t know a real American if they were slapped by one on the face.
What we see here is a simply an assumption that real Americans are stupid. All those people in fly-over country are just a bunch of dumb, uneducated hicks. And while it’s true that maybe most people in fly-over country don’t know what Keyneisan Economics are or have ivy league Masters degrees, adorning their walls, they do know a line of bullshit (BS) when they see one.
The US Taxpayer pumped $80 billion into the GM to save (drum roll please) 105,000 jobs. What’s even better is that the Tax Payers are only going to lose $14 Billion. And we’re told that’s a good thing. What is that smell? Smells like BS to me.
Claiming that 105,000 union jobs were created while millions of other lost their jobs rings hollow and smells of . . . you guessed it! BS!
Real Americans understand the value of an honest day’s work. Real Americans understand that when you fail, you pick yourself back up and move forward. Real Americans understand that the government doesn’t solve problems; it subsidizes them. Real Americans, since the founding of this country, understand that you have to work hard to get what you want.
To wax poetic for a moment: the internet is proving once again that everyone is on the same playing field. All it takes is a computer, some imagination and you’re ready to spread a message to a lot of people.
Nokia recently released a commerical squarely aimed at taking on the iPhone. Multi-million dollar budgets, teams of marketing experts.
Someone created a response. That someone is someone who has a computer and some imagination. They don’t have a multi-million dollar budget, they don’t have teams of marketing experts.
But they do have almost 250,000 views and growing.
UPDATE: 18 hours after this was published, views increased to 288,464.
Very interesting product from Veodia for screen recording. The product allows you to screen record up to three minutes video that you then can embed in your blog, facebook or twitter. Whats cool is its a very lightweight application. I simply dragged my book mark to my browser and created a screen recording. check it out for yourself. www.screenjelly.com.
This morning, I couldn't help but to notice YouTube is now getting 1 billion views per day.
Truly remarkable. A couple of guys started a video sharing site in 2005 and now it's world's most watched channel. One billion views per day is not hard to imagine. YouTube can we watched on any computer, anywhere at any time. Mobile devices support this medium so you can literally watch it on the go.
The question is no longer "Can we use this service?" but rather it must be "When are we going to start?" If you're response was anything but NOW then you'll be left behind.
But before blindly creating content, think about what kind of message you want to send. You've captured their attention for a minute. What do you want them to see?
Think about our current state of technology. We live in a collaboration environment. People share ideas, concepts literally at the click of a button. Questions posed to search engines are "How do I do XYZ" or "What is XYZ?" More and more, answers are coming via video. Anyone with a screen capture program can say "This is how you do XYZ".
Create video content that:
Educates
Challenges paradigms
Gets people thinking about a problem differently
Inspires communication/dialogue
Even if your video is not viewed by millions on the first day, impacting the minds of just a handful of people means you've achieved your goal. Starting dialogue is powerful and something everyone wants to be a part of.
This is one of the best video’s I’ve ever seen on explaining collaboration 2.0 – whats really cool is it explains it without a single word being uttered. I hope you enjoy it
